Cain Calls Majette Liberal Puppet

FOREST PARK, GA (Mar. 29) - Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Herman Cain released the following statement after U.S. Rep Denise Majette announced her intention to run for the U.S. Senate:

“With Denise Majette’s announcement today to run for the United States Senate, it is apparent that the Democratic Party continues to believe in its failed policies of more taxes and bigger government. Obviously, they have learned nothing from Senator Zell Miller. There are enough liberals and moderates in the Senate and we do not need another.

“In the past year, Congresswoman Majette has spent her time launching mean-spirited attacks against President Bush. She has endorsed Sen. Kerry for President and now she wants to continue her liberal agenda in the United States Senate. There, she would be nothing more than a puppet for the likes of Sen. Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy and Tom Daschle. These people do not represent the values of Georgia.

“Majette is pro-tax, pro-abortion and anti-military. She would put America at risk by not increasing our border security, and would rather provide amnesty for illegal immigrants in the United States.

“Majette would erode our country’s moral foundation with her liberal extremism. She would always allow abortions, up until the moment the baby is born. For this reason, she received a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood and NARAL. She even voted against banning the inhumane act of partial-birth abortions and would fight to allow gay marriage.

“This country cannot afford to allow a liberal like Majette to represent Georgia in the United States Senate. Majette’s sense of values is completely out-of-touch with Georgian principles and makes her the wrong person to represent us in Washington. I intend to stop her and in doing so, provide President Bush one more solid conservative voice supporting the values that most Georgians share.”
