KENNESAW, GA (July 19, 2006) - The Dozier Centre for the Performing Arts, opening mid-August 2006, is the latest in the growing field of regional arts facilities found in the metro Atlanta area. This center, located in Kennesaw, Georgia, provides an intimate venue for concerts and theatrical events and a world-class facility for multidisciplinary educational programs for all ages. Utilizing Randall-Paulson Architects (Roswell) and acoustic consultants, the Walters-Storyk Design Group (New York), the Dozier Centre will serve as a much-needed resource for the rapidly expanding arts community in Cobb County. The venue will host local and national touring acts and will also serve as home for the regional Cobb Symphony Orchestra and the Georgia Brass Band. The numerous educational initiatives of the Dozier Centre include Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO), Georgia Regional Girls Choir, and classes in Kindermusik, theatre, and dance to name a few.
The 85,000 square foot, multi-level performing arts center is home to an intimate 614-seat concert hall with orchestra lift and WSDG custom-designed concert shell. The hall has the ability to be transformed for theatrical productions with fully functional wings and fly-loft, not to mention state-of-the-art audio/visual technology featuring 5.1 sound.
The main level includes an expansive 5,600 square foot grand lobby capable of serving as a multi-purpose gathering space and special events facility.
This level also incorporates three dance studios, and a 2,250 square foot, 150-seat black box theater.
The ground level serves as the main vocal and instrumental education area with 20 acoustically-engineered rooms of various sizes to be used for band, orchestra and choral rehearsal space and media education.
The third level features two WSDG designed recording studios. Both studios are equipped with Solid State Logic (SSL) recording consoles (SSL 9000k Series). The Dozier Centre also contains a media lab including 8 ProTools work stations and an SSL AWS 900+ for a recording/production school set to open in January 2007.
