Governor Perdue Announces Judicial Appointment

ATLANTA (April 22, 2008) – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today the following judicial appointment:

     · Michael D. DeVane – Superior Court, Waycross Judicial
Circuit. The vacancy was created by the passing of the Honorable Stephen L. Jackson.

A brief biography is provided below:

   Michael D. DeVane, 57, Waycross, GA – DeVane has practiced law in Georgia since 1982. He has served as the Solicitor-General of Ware County since 1996. DeVane is a member of the Georgia Association of Solicitors-General and serves on the Advisory Board of the Magnolia House Shelter for Abused Women and Children. He earned his bachelor's degree from Valdosta State University and his law degree from Mercer University School of Law. He and his wife, Maurie, have three children.
