Lorraine Green Qualifies for Gwinnett Commission Chairman
Green's name to appear on Primary ballots July 15
Lawrenceville (April 28, 2008) — Commissioner Lorraine Green today officially qualified for the office of Chairman of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners. Green's name will appear on Republican ballots during the upcoming July 15 Primary election.
"We have been able to accomplish much in Gwinnett's District 1, but the time has come for considerably stronger leadership countywide," Green said. "I believe that our brightest days are still ahead for Gwinnett, and I want to help us reach that greatness. That is why I am asking for everyone's vote for chairman."
Lorraine Green's involvement in county affairs is motivated by her concern for the high quality of life shared by homeowners and residents.
Prior to joining the commission, Lorraine served as vice chairman of the Gwinnett County Planning Commission and as a member of the Water and Sewer Authority. She is part of special committees with the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia, and she is vice chairman of the Gwinnett Convention and Visitors Bureau Board of Directors.
Professionally, Lorraine is an environmental engineer and the president of her own consulting firm. The Georgia Tech graduate specializes in corrosion engineering services for the aviation and fueling industries.
Lorraine and her husband, Bob, have been married for more than 23 years. They live in Lawrenceville with their two sons, Alex and Austin. She serves on the board of directors for the Peachtree Ridge School Foundation and has led its successful Auction Committee for three years.
